Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez delivers an impassioned introduction to the serious flawed, “Green New Deal,” on the Capitol steps; February 7, 2019.
To her left (right side of the photograph) is Massachusetts Senator, Edward Markey. Over the Congresswoman’s right shoulder (left of the photograph) is fifth congressional district California Congressman, Mike Thompson. – Both the Senator and Congressman are proud co-authors of the, “Green New Deal,” which is a pile up of mis-information and conclusions (read below) with an erratic track line.
Because of the many flaws of House Resolution 109 (as the, “New Green Deal is officially designated) and the hysterics of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez – for example; the World is to end in 12 years and cauliflower represents colonial imperialism – many people decline to become part of the Environmental movement.
On February 7, 2019 junior Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez presented the House Resolution 109 which was co-written by Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey and Congressman Mike Thompson. Unlike a bill, a, ‘House Resolution,’ is not presented to the President and cannot become law. House Resolution 109 is also known as, “The Green New Deal,” which is a take from Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal that he initiated soon after the 1932 Presidential election.
When the 84th Boston Marathon took place, April 21, 1980, female runner Rosie Ruiz placed first with the third fastest female Marathon time. She was herald by the news media until other runners insisted that an investigation of Ms. Ruiz be taken as she had not been seen by anyone at the starting line. By April 25th, the New York Marathon retroactively disqualified Ruiz from the 1979 race. Later that week the Boston Athletic Association disqualified Ruiz from the Boston Marathon first place and banished her from entering any future race.
It is a clever maneuver by a politician to self appoint him (or herself) as the initiator leader of a political, social or environmental movement that had been set in motion decades earlier.
Richard Nixon realized that the Government had to become involved with what was an apparent self national destruction of the environment. Many cities poured raw sewerage into rivers. Industrial plants poured tons of toxic waste into rivers and the oceans. – Trash by the barge full were towed out to sea and dumped. – Automobiles used lead gasoline that harmed anyone who operated and worked around the internal combustion engine. Ships frequently pumped polluted bilge water into the ocean or worse yet while pier-side. – Acid rain was a common occurrence before the Environmental Protection Agency was formed. – Until 1969 the Cuyahoga, the Chicago, Buffalo and Rouge Rivers would catch on fire due to raw sewage and industrial waste. Public outcry resulted in the Clean Water Act of 1972. – Some countries still lag behind what the United States and western European countries have done to protect themselves and their neighbors. For example, raw sewage from Tijuana is found on Imperial Beach near San Diego. Peru had polluted much of its coast line with raw sewage until international outrage made that country process its human waste with sewer treatment plants. – Much remains to be done. House Resolution 109 offers little in way of specifics.
House Resolution 109 contains incomplete information that misleads the reader. For example the Resolution states: human activity is the dominate cause of observed climate change over the past century. – Comment: During the last 119 years there have been over 90 significant volcanoes that have ejected into the atmosphere (and the oceans) far more toxic pollutants than human activity has since the Industrial Revolution that commenced during the late 16 hundreds. – It is theorized that the Pine Island glacier located in west, Antarctica 25 per cent increased melt rate above the 500 hundred other South Pole glaciers is caused from a sub-terrain volcano.
House Resolution 109 states: More than 350,000,000 million people are to be exposed globally by deadly heat stress by (the year) 2050. – Comment: This statement by Congresswoman Cortez and Senator Markey demonstrate how little they know. For the last forty years, 350,000,000 million people have been exposed to deadly heat stress from Phoenix, Arizona (and much of the United States south-west) north and south central Africa, south-west and south-east Asia. – All of Western Europe – ironically Scandinavia was spared – experienced its hottest summer on record during the year 2003 when over 70,000 thousand deaths were tallied. The European summers of 2017 and 2018 also had extended heat waves. – In the Persian Gulf – Red Sea area, tens of thousands of Indus and Philippine workers have expired due to heat stress. Does Congresswoman Cortez, Senator Markey, Congressman Mike Thompson and their followers know of this? – Thankfully the World Health Organization intervened and have prevented some heat-work related deaths. More could be done, from June 15th to October 1st, when the heat is intolerable, all construction and shipyard related work in and around the Persian Gulf – Red Sea areas should halt. There are eight and a half months to do the above mentioned work. If not done, the economic status of these countries will not be placed in any jeopardy to wait until the heat abates.
Since 1859 when the first Solar Flare (the Carrington Event) was documented, the other notable Solar Flare eruptions have been 1972, 1989, 2000, 2003 and 2006. Minor solar flare occur from three to from times a month. Do Solar Flares have anything to do with climate change?
The Magnetic Pole Shift – NASA and the Canadian Government have noticed that during the last 40 years magnetic north – located (as of January 2018) in the tundra of Canada (72 degrees 62 minutes west and 80 degrees 31 minutes north) – is moving towards Siberia at a rate of 25-30 miles per annum. The previous shift rate was 10 miles per annum. The cause of the increased Magnetic Pole shift is speculative which conjures the question, does the Magnetic Pole shift have anything to do with climate change?
On April 1, 1983 the Sun with held its power by .100 of a per cent. There were snow flurries in much of Texas, northern Louisiana and Mississippi. – A similar event took place on April 6, 2012 in Northern California.
It is not within the scope of this article to explore why and how the Sun can, at a whim, increase and/or decrease its power, and, why volcanoes erupt in remote areas of the globe.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez expects us, the common citizen, to follow what she and Senator Mareky wrote in House Resolution 109. That would involve plenty of conservation and personal denial. – What is the Congresswoman’s life style? Recent news reports – and she is followed by news media personnel like a hawk – indicates that she lives in an upscale Washington D.C. Navy Yard apartment complex that would exclude you and I. – She wears the finest designer clothes that is far beyond the economic reach of most woman. – She gallivants hither and yon in what? An ethanol (which is pollutant free) fueled Piper Cub, or, does she jet around to where-ever in a massive petroleum fueled airliner, first class? – During her travels, does she sojourn at an economical motel (or hotel ) like you and I? or does she register into a Hilton or a Hyatt or a Marriott or a Sheridan? – Congresswoman Cortez is often seen being transported in a chauffeur driven automobile. – A member of Congress receives an annual wage of 184,000 dollars before taxes. – Political expenditures by the Incumbent and candidate Are Not Tax Deductible. – How does this Congresswoman finance the lavish life style she lives? – Her previous employment before she entered politics was a cocktail bartender.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is a news media super star that is intoxicated with her notoriety. – The state of the ecology and environment, along with global warming is incidental.
